Received an Error Message: R804.1 OCPD Protecting Combiner Panel Not Sufficient
Error Message Received:

What causes this error?:
This error occurs when the overcurrent protection device (OCPD) protecting the combiner panel is inaccurately sized to handle the system's total output. The OCPD must be sized to at least 125% of the combined generation sources' output to account for safety margins.
Example:
In the project below the PV and ESS are connected in a single combiner panel. The PV is protected by (2) 20A OCPD branch circuits while the ESS is protected by a 60A OCPD. The combined system output is then protected by a 60A OCPD that is landing in the main service panel.

The calculation for the output:
1.58A (microinverter output) x 18 (number of modules) = 28.44A
16A (each ESS output) x 3 (number of ESS’s) = 48A
48+28.44 = 76.44
76.44A x 1.25 = 95.55A
Therefore the OCPD protecting the combiner panel is undersized based on the combined calculated output.
Potential Solution:
To resolve this error, the OCPD in the main service panel will need to be upsized to 100A.
If that isn't an option, Power Control Systems (PCS) can be used to limit the maximum continuous output current of the energy storage system, which will reduce the output accordingly.
To select PCS as a solution within SolarAPP+, you can use the image below as a guide to update the Energy Storage System section in your application.

If the error is showing after using PCS that likely means that even when reducing the output, the OCPD protecting the combiner is still undersized and will need to be upsized.
